Bosnian genocide denial

A joint funeral is being held on Tuesday for 30 victims of the July 1995 genocide of Bosniaks, with thousands of mourners expected to attend the annual commemoration at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Women in Black said that an unknown man posing as a postal worker entered the building where the peace group's office is located in Belgrade on Tuesday and poured red paint on the entrance door and on the staircase.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Missing Persons Institute said that 50 genocide victims will be laid to rest at a collective funeral at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre on July 11, the day of the anniversary commemoration of the mass killings in 1995.

Saha Bumbulovic said that her father Adil Selimovic, who was killed on July 13, 1995 at the age of 59, will be among those who will be buried.

Nationalist organisation Eastern Alternative said it will screen a film about the "liberation of Srebrenica" by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995, a documentary including a speech by war criminal Ratko Mladic, in Srebrenica on July 11, the same day as the 27th anniversary of the genocide of Bosniaks will be commemorated nearby.

They told BIRN BiH the mass grave is the furthest from Srebrenica in which victims from that town have been found, and that it lies in the zone of operation of the so-called Scorpions unit.

Unknown perpetrators on Thursday removed a banner with the slogan "Ratko Mladic is a war criminal convicted of genocide" from the building in the Serbian city of Novi Sad which houses the offices of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina, LSV political party.

The announcement on Friday of a ban on genocide and war crimes denial by High Representative Valentine Inzko, the international official who oversees implementation of the peace deal that ended the 1992-95 Bosnian war, was hailed by representatives of survivors of the Srebrenica gecocide.

BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Srebrenica Memorial Centre presented the video project 'The Lives Behind the Fields of Death' on Wednesday at a conference in Srebrenica that highlighted the role of oral history in combatting genocide denial and revisionism.

The Cair municipality in Skopje has announced ahead of the anniversary of the 1995 Srebrenica genocide on July 11 that it will soon install a memorial commemorating the victims of worst atrocity in post-World War II Europe.

But Hanifa Djogaz will not be with them. She passed away at the age of 72 in January this year without living to see the court's verdict in the case of Mladic, who is accused of commanding the forces that killed her sons Samir and Sabahudin and her husband Hamed in the genocide.
