Two months after it was moored in the Thracian Sea, the floating natural gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU), named Alexandroupolis, will on Friday receive its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo.

As Europe begins to recover from the shock of the energy crisis and concerns about gas shortages following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, investors are reassessing the prospect of investing in liquefied natural gas terminals.

Turkey's natural gas storage capacity will be increased from 4.7 billion cubic meters to 11 billion cubic meters by 2023, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez told parliament members on Dec. 7.

Three joint ventures have been selected by Cyprus in the first stage of a tender to provide a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to import liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The first joint venture is led by China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering, Natural Gas Public Company of Cyprus (DEFA) said on its website.
