All persons are required to wear a protective mask when in indoor or outdoor public places. Such an order was given by Health Minister Kiril Ananiev. The order and the measure will be in force until April 26.

At a briefing today, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced that he had ordered to Health Minister Kiril Ananiev that wearing face safety masks in public should become compulsory. Those who cannot find a mask will be allowed to use a scarf. This measure is expected to be implemented as of tomorrow.  

BGN 375 will be given to parents on unpaid leave who look after their children and don't have paid leave or are single parents. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva at a briefing. More than 55,000 people / families are covered by the measure for parents on unpaid leave or single parents, added Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is calling an extraordinary government session today. Ministers will approve the signing of a contract for the delivery of 1,000,000 COVID-19 tests from South Korea.

Also today, the Minister of Culture, Boil Banov, will give a briefing to present government decisions and measures to support the cultural and creative sectors at the national level.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stated, at a briefing at the Council of Ministers, that he had ordered mass testing for Covid-19 using rapid tests in the town of Bansko, which was quarantined in the course of 14 days.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced that he had ordered the dismissal of the CEO and the board of the Bulgarian Development Bank.

The Bulgarian prime minister stated that the reason for this decision was that the bank granted a loan of EUR 32.5 million /BGN 75 million/ to a company with a revenue of EUR 1,000 /BGN 2,000/.

Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov today.  Secretary Pompeo congratulated Bulgaria on its quick actions to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases, and the two discussed further efforts to mitigate this crisis. 

The European Commission promised that on Monday it will to come up with guideline measures against COVID-19 for all Member States, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told a news conference on March 26 after participating in a video conference meeting of the European Council.

Bulgaria has requested 1 million tests for COVID-19 in the joint European order, it became clear from the words of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who is in Pernik for the launch of the new water supply system.

"Today, I personally ordered 1 million tests," the prime minister said.

"This is a bacteriological war. At the beginning, everyone underestimated it. Yesterday was like a bomb - with statements from all the leaders in the world. The sense of people and emergency measures are major defeats.
