Hospital workers' union decries 'unreliable' flu data
The union of Greek hospital workers, POEDIN, has accused the government of misrepresenting the total number of flu cases and mortalities.
"The country's health authorities are not in a position to know the number of cases in our country. The number of flu cases and deaths given by the government is completely unreliable," POEDIN said.
Hospitals fill up with flu patients as virus takes toll
With mortalities from the flu reportedly so far exceeding 40 in Greece since October, hundreds of people with symptoms of the H1N1 virus are reportedly arriving at state hospitals which are struggling to prevent its spread among medical staff.

Flu Epidemic: More than Half of Bulgaria is Seeing Increase in Flu Cases
Flu cases are increasing throughout the country and more than half of Bulgaria is in flu epidemic, reports BNT.
The districts of Razgrad and Veliko Turnovo declared flu epidemic as of today, 25th of January. Pleven and Rousse will be in epidemic as of 26th of January.

The critical problem of a rapidly aging population is absent from Greek public discourse.
Besides, the country today is more preoccupied with the past and the present. And, at least for now, it appears indifferent about the future.
