An example to be avoided

The ongoing investigation into Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis and the way it has been handled has caused a lot of damage to both the government and the country.

I have no doubt there was a massive and expensive orgy of mismanagement in the health sector and that bribes were paid to doctors, politicians and civil servants. 

Five people handed suspended jail sentences in big corruption trial

Five people were given suspended prison terms of between five to 13 years for active and passive bribery and money laundering in a long-running case into a major trial-fixing ring.

A court gave former lawyer and ex New Democracy MP Petros Mantouvalos and the former appeals court judge Yiannis Efstathiou a 13-year suspended term.

Novartis investigation dogged by disputes

A year since a prosecutors' investigation into an alleged bribery scandal involving the Swiss drugs manufacturer Novartis was sent to Parliament, the probe is at a crucial juncture, with judicial officials expected to bring charges against Greek politicians in due course even though evidence of illicit payments has yet to be produced. 

Israeli Executive Arrested in Bulgaria on Guatemala Bribery Suspicions

An executive in an Israeli construction firm was arrested in Bulgaria on Thursday at the request of Guatemalan authorities over suspicions he paid millions of dollars in bribes to a Guatemalan minister in order to secure government construction contracts for his company, reported Times of Israel.
