Brussels cancels New Year's fireworks, festivities over terror threat
Belgian authorities on Dec. 30 cancelled the annual New Year's Eve festivities and fireworks in the heart of Brussels after revealing an alleged jihadist plot to attack the capital during the holiday.

Brussels: Mosque evacuated over ‘suspicious powder’ in envelope
A mosque in Brussels has been evacuated after a suspicious envelope was found.
A spokesperson of firemen told Le Libre newspaper many envelopes contained a suspicious white powder were found in the building.
The mosque is located close to the the headquarters of the European Parliament.
The city’s decontamination unit was sent to the site.

Belgium widened its search on Nov. 22 for armed Islamist extremists whose presence has put Brussels on maximum alert, with officials saying more than one militant was at large in the city.
