DIICOT searches at migrant traffickers' homes

Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors on Wednesday conducted seven home searches, within an action aimed at dismantling a group made up of Romanian, Syrian, Iraqi and Bulgarian citizens, specialized in migrant trafficking and illegal state border passage, on the route Turkey - Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary - states of Western Europe.

Retired colonel and suspect of 'post-modern coup' found dead in Bucharest

A retired colonel, who was being sought in the trial of the military intervention of Feb. 28, 1997, often described as a ?post-modern coup,? has been found dead in Bucharest.

Retired Colonel Eser ?ahan was found dead on a bank in the Drumul Taberei neighborhood of the Romanian capital, after he was reported to have left his house for a walk.

CFR Calatori, Romania's national passenger railway carrier, is selling train tickets with a 50-per cent discount for journeys that start in Bucharest and end in Prahova Valley or Constanta, on Valentine's Day and Dragobete (traditional Romanian love celebration - February 24), CFR Calatori reported on Wednesday.

PMB: Over 200 machines intervene with antiskid material in Bucharest

Over 200 machines intervene with antiskid material and snowploughs in Bucharest to remove the snow where necessary, according to a release of the Bucharest Municipality Hall (PMB) remitted to AGERPRES on Saturday.

The 210 machines intervene both on the main and on the secondary streets.
