Istanbul Airport named ‘Airport of the Year’
Istanbul Airport has been named "Airport of the Year" for the fourth time at the Air Transport Awards 2024.
In its five years of operation, the airport received the prize four times, demonstrating a remarkable achievement, the Air Transport News said.
The winners are determined by a vote involving more than 4,000 Air Transport News readers and aviation industry executives.

More than 205 million passengers have traveled through Istanbul Airport since its opening on Oct. 29, 2018, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu has revealed.
Istanbul Europe’s busiest airport in March
Türkiye's mega airport Istanbul was the busiest one in Europe, with an average of 1,263 daily flights in March, according to EUROCONTROL.
Sabiha Gökçen, also in Istanbul, ranked 17th on the list with an average of 549 daily flights.
Istanbul Airport was followed by Heathrow with 1,190 flights and Charles de Gaulle in Paris with 1,135 flights.

Istanbul Airport ranked busiest in Europe
Istanbul Airport has been ranked as the busiest airport in Europe with 1,310 flights between Aug. 24 and 30, according to data from EUROCONTROL.
According to the weekly report, which also compares the flight performances before the pandemic, many airports in Europe lagged far behind 2019 figures, while Istanbul Airport increased its flights by 2 percent.

Istanbul Airport second busiest in Europe
Istanbul Airport has been ranked as the second busiest airport in Europe, with 1,247 daily flights between June 2 and June 8, according to data from Eurocontrol.
Flights at Istanbul Airport increased by 2 percent (19) from the previous week. Traffic at the airport mostly comprised of flights by Turkish Airlines, IndiGo and Red Wings, the agency said.

At less than three years old, Istanbul Airport made it to the upper ranks of the globe's top 10 airports in the World's Best Awards 2021 survey, said a statement by the Istanbul Airport Administration (IGA) on Sept. 9.
Turkish airports see 5.2 mln passengers in February
The number of air passengers in Turkey - including transit passengers - totaled 5.2 million this February, the country's airport authority said on March 6.
According to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI), the number of domestic passengers reached 3.7 million, while 1.6 million passengers took international flights.
