Power Distributor CEZ Bulgaria Reports Losses of BGN 11.6M in H1, 2014

Power distributor CEZ Bulgaria EAD has reported a negative financial result of nearly BGN 11.6 M in the first half of 2014.

CEZ Electro Bulgaria AD reported a loss of nearly BGN 6.6 M, while CEZ Distribution AD registered a loss of around BGN 5 M in H1, 2014, according to a media statement of the company.

Tsvetan Tsvetanov Heads Bulgaria's GERB Election Headquarters

Tsvetan Tsvetanov will head center-right opposition GERB party election headquarters, the former Bulgarian Interior Minister announced, Saturday.

His deputies will be Rumyana Bachvarova and Tsvetomir Paunov. Tsvetanov's team will also include Georgi Georgiev and Simeon Velkov, BGNES reports.

Lack of Quorum Foils Bulgarian Parliament's Last Regular Session

Lawmakers failed to reach quorum on Friday, when they were to hold their last regular meeting before President Rosen Plevneliev dissolves Parliament on August 6.

Amendments to the Waste Management Act and the Protection of Competition Act were on the MPs' agenda after Plevneliev vetoed changes to the latter text.

DANS Arrests Vidin Mayor

The mayor of the Bulgarian town of Vidin, Gergo Gergov, has been arrested on Thursday by the National Security Agency DANS, reports Nova TV national channel. 

According to the media, DANS officers searched the offices of Gergov and his deputy Borislava Borisova. 

Salaries in Bulgarian Healthcare 'Guaranteed Until December'

Deputy Health Minister and National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) Chairman Boyko Penkov announced funding in the sector could only provide salaries until December.

The minister in resignation said Thursday that the fund would not be able to make any payments from December 1 unless healthcare expenditures in the national budget are updated.
