Sofia, Varna Property Prices Rise, Still Well Below Pre-Crisis Peaks

Property prices in Sofia and Varna last month were higher than they were a year earlier but still well below the pre-crisis peaks of 2008, a real estate consultant has said.

According to the latest price index update compiled by Bulgarian Properties firm, August prices in Sofia were 0.92% higher than a year earlier, while those in Varna were up 13.3%.

Bulgarian Hoteliers Stage Protest to Demand Separate Tourism Ministry

Bulgarian hoteliers will stage a protest Wednesday at a section of the Burgas- Sunny Beach near Aheloy to demand a separate ministry of tourism and a solution to a number of other problems.

"Tourism is a fundamental sector of Bulgarian economy," said Sunny Beach owners' union chairperson Elena Ivanova, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio.

Number of Burgas Flood Victims Climbs To Three

Authorities report of a third victim of the floods in the Burgas region on Friday night.

According to Dnevnik.bg, on Saturday afternoon was found the body of a shepherd near the village of Novo Panicharevo, near Primorsko. 

The other two victims - two women who drowned in their cars near Burgas - were discovered earlier on Saturday. 

Floods In South Eastern Bulgaria, One Victim, One Missing

One woman drowned and a young woman is missing after the torrential rains on the southern parts of Bulgaria's sea coast, said Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. 

He told the bTV national channel that the woman drowned in her car on the road between Burgas and the town of Sozopol. The missing young woman, aged 21, is looked for with a helicopter. 

Price Cuts at Bulgaria’s Black Sea Resorts Reach 50% in September

Tourists can spend their holidays at Bulgarian southern Black Sea coast at prices up to 50% lower, due to the traditional September discounts.

September is the month preferred for vacation mostly by Bulgarians and Western European pensioners, Bulgarian National Radio notes.

Sozopol Hosts 30-th Edition of Apollonia Art Festival

The 30-th anniversary edition of the Apollonia Art Festival will take place in Bulgaria's seaside town of Sozopol between August 28 and September 6.

The festival has established itself as a gathering point of artists, musicians, writers, poets, actors and architects and has become one of the major points in the summer art programme in Bulgaria.
