Ukraine Snubs Discrimination at Summer Camp in Bulgarian Resort

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has sent a protest note to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry over discriminatory treatment at a summer camp for children at a Black Sea resort.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, Igor Abesinov, head of a group of animators at the “Mistral” summer camp for children at the resort of Sveti Vlas, banned the wearing of Ukrainian national symbols.

The Bulgarian seaside resorts are one quarter empty, even though it's the peak of season, reports the local Standart daily.

According to hotel owners at the Black Sea coast the season was unusually weak and they are forced to offer discount prices in an effort to attract tourists. 

They expect that August, which is usually the busiest month, will be even worse. 

Bulgaria's Southern Black Sea Coast Returns to Normal after Floods

State of emergency is to remain in the municipalities of Primorsko, Sozopol and Tsarevo, located along the southern Black Sea coast, Bulgarian authorities say.

The situation is however easing down after Tuesday and Wednesday's torrential rains caused the Dyavolska and Ropotamo rivers to swell.

State of Emergency Declared in Another Eastern Bulgarian Municipality

State of emergency has been declared in Bulgaria's Northeastern Byala municipality over the heavy rains, mayor Anastas Trendafilov said, Wednesday.

There are reports of flooded buildings, the strong winds have knocked down branches and whole trees. There are damages along the beaches and the street pavements, too, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reports.

Widespread Violations Found at 97 Bulgaria's Beaches

A total of 80 violations have been found during the inspection of 97 beaches along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast last month, Regional Development Minister Desislava Terzieva said.

The most common violations concern the provision of lifeguarding services, as well as medical care irregularities, 24 Chasa informs.

Heavy Traffic Jams Along Bulgaria's Southern Black Sea Coast

A nearly 7-km-long traffic jam has clogged the roads between Bulgaria's Black Sea towns of Pomorie and Aheloy on Friday afternoon.

It takes as long as an hour to travel the distance, Bulgaria's National Radio (BNR) reports. Kilometers-long traffic jam was also generated in the opposite direction - from Sunny Beach resort to Aheloy.
