Bulgaria Yet to Achieve Goals of Revolutionaries - President

Bulgaria has yet to achieve the goals set by revutionaries who fought for its freedom, President Rosen Plevneliev said on Easter Monday.

The President delivered a speech while in the town of Koprivshtitsa to attend the ongoing ceremonies dedicated to the the 140th anniversary since the April Uprising began in 1876.

New Film Festival to Show Documentaries on Art in Sofia

A film festival bringing together documentaries dedicated to the arts begins in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on April 15.

With some 50 titles included in this first edition, the event which is first-of-a-kind for Southeast Europe aims to showcase the role of documentaries in promoting arts, organizers have said.

The German movie "Zhaleika" directed by Bulgarian Eliza Petkova won the grand prix award for best film in the international competition of the Sofia International Film Festival.

The winner was announced at the award ceremony which took place in hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the Bulgarian capital on Saturday.

Renowned Balkan director and musician Emir Kusturica will perform with The No Smoking Orchestra in the Bulgarian capital on April 22.

The concert will take place in hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia, the organisers from Degris Events inform.

Bulgaria's Koprivshtitsa Ranks Among 30 Most Beautiful Towns in Europe

According to the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA), the Bulgarian town of Koprvishtitsa ranks among the thirty most beautiful towns in Europe.

The list of the Japanese association aims to promote tourism to attractive little places in Europe.

Koprvishtitsa is located near the Sredna Gora mountains, with the river Topolnitsa flowing through the town.

Bulgaria's Sofia to Host World Festival of Animated Film Jan 29-31

The 11th edition of World Festival of Animated Film will be held on January 29-31 in the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia.

On January 19 at 18:30 local time, "Authors-Artists" exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian cinema will usher viewers into the mood of the Festival at NDK Lobby Semi-basement East.
