"Changing the leva-euro exchange rate is impossible". This is stated by the Bulgarian National Bank to National radio, after yesterday information was spread, which is claimed to be from a report of the Ministry of Finance, according to which there is a risk of a change in the exchange rate of the leva against the euro.

The 20 BGN banknotes from 2005 will be removed from circulation from February 1 and will no longer be legal tender. After this date, banknotes with a nominal value of BGN 20, 2005 issue, will be exchanged at the cash desks of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) at nominal value without limit of quantity, without fee and without deadline for exchange.

"Bulgaria can request an extraordinary report on its readiness to enter the Eurozone in March or April, but for this it must have met the inflation criteria and passed three laws." Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov announced this to Nova TV.

Foods prices are skyrocketing and break all records. A new scam at the seaside. In an exchange office in the resort of Sunny Beach foreign currencies were exchanged with old Bulgarian banknotes.

In the period January - February 2021, the total value of all the goods exported from Bulgaria amounted to 9.6 billion leva, about 1.7 per cent less than in January - February 2020, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on April 13, citing preliminary data.

Today marks 140 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian lev.

On June 4, 1880, the Law on the Right to Cut Coins in the Principality of Bulgaria was promulgated and entered into force, the BNB announced. This law created the national currency "lev", divided into one hundred parts - "stotinki", and determined the weight, metal content and images of Bulgarian coins.
