The CEC published the results of the first-round local elections in the country with 100% tally sheets processed.

There will be a second round in Sofia and a number of regional cities. GERB remains the strongest party, the BSP improves its results and goes on a run-off in a number of regional cities. The big surprise of the vote is the breakthrough of the independent candidate Boris Bonev in Sofia. At the same time, Bulgaria rejected national populists.

The Prime Minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov signed a pre-election agreement for general participation in the local elections with the Union of Democratic Forces. This happened at the GERB headquarters at an event for which no media was invited. The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

The share of Bulgarians who believe that the government will finish its full mandate is increasing. This shows the results of a Trend research study ordered by "24 hours". According to the data, the most approved party leader in Bulgaria remains the Prime Minister and Chairman of GERB Boyko Borissov.

Bulgaria's elections bucked several perceived trends throughout the EU. For one, there was no Green wave. In Bulgaria, as in the rest of Eastern Europe, green parties remain a negligible force. As if to drive that point home, the youth climate-strike movement that mobilized many youngsters in various countries across Europe failed to make any headway in Bulgaria.

After a conversation between GERB's Chairman Boyko Borisov and Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Tsvetanov resigned from all the leadership positions in the party. It has already been deposited and accepted by Borisov. The prime minister thanked Tsvetanov for his work over the years.

Bulgaria's Central Election Commission on May 28 published data based on 100% of the tally sheets processed by the regional election commissions show that five Bulgarian parties will have seats in the next European Parliament, reports BNT, 

Voter turnout in Bulgaria's elections for Members of the European Pareliment held on May 26 was 33,27%.

GERB wins the European Parliament elections in Bulgaria.

According to the Gallup International  at 19:00, the ruling party receives 30.5% of the vote. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is in second place with 25.4 and the third place is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 12.8.

At the end of the campaigning ahead of Bulgaria's May 26 European Parliament elections, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's centre-right GERB party has 31.1% support of the voters and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) 26.6%, according to the results of a poll by Alpha Research released on May 23, reports BNT.
