An influential businessman has been shot dead outside his office in broad daylight in Sofia, in a case likely to raise questions about organised crime in Bulgaria, writes the Guardian. 

Today, December 14, European Union Security Commissioner Julian King will be on an official visit to Bulgaria, reported BGNES.

His program includes meetings with Interior Minister Valentin Radev and with Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva. After the meeting in the Ministry of Interior, Commissioner King and Minister Radev will make statements to the media.

Bulgaria's new Supreme Judicial Council was inaugurated at an official ceremony in Sofia.

The new 22 members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) have taken an oath today, a reporter at BGNES has said.

After President Rumen Radev issued a decree proposing to the National Assembly to elect Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, the legislative body started discussing the structure and composition of the Borisov government, BNR announced.

Volya Party leader Veselin Mareshki said after talks with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev that currently his formation would support the new government, BNR reported.

The party will then monitor whether the government's program is being implemented and in such a case would continue its support.

There is still work to be done on the coalition agreement between Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) and United Patriots. This is what Volen Siderov, co-chair of United Patriots parliamentary group, told journalists after the meeting of the two formations in relation to forming a government, FOCUS News Agency reported.

The newly elected 44th parliament will have today its initial session. The National Assembly is summoned with a decree of President Rumen Radev and the eldest MP present will unveil it, following the Constitution. This will be the journalist Toma Tomov from the socialists, elected in Blagoevgrad.
