Ruling Party Eyes Victory in Bulgarian Local Elections

Control of 19 out of 28 regional cities in Bulgaria will be contested in the second round of local elections held on 3 November, though experts predict little drama and a repeat - albeit less decisive - victory for the ruling GERB party of Prime Minister Boyko Borsissov, compared to its record 2015 local elections result.

September 9 marks 73 years since one of the most controversial dates in Bulgaria's modern history. On that day in 1944 the Fatherland Front led by PM Kimon Georgiev seized political power in Bulgaria.

Soon after that the commonest regime took over and the communist party stood at the helm of the country until November 1989.

Parliament’s Defence Committee Approved Contracts with the US for F-16 Aircrafts

Bulgarian Parliament's Defence Committee on July 17 approved the contracts with the United States for the purchase of the the F-16 fighter aircrafts with 13 votes in favour and 8 against, reports BNT. 

The decision was adopted with the votes of GERB, MRF and United Patriots without "Ataka". The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Volya voted against.

The BSP Started Consultations on Party Subsidies

It is expected to make calculations during the talks and at a later stage the left to come up with her proposal, reported NOVA TV. 

The party's subsidy is again on the agenda for the deputies. The Bulgarian Socialist Party - BSP started political consultations with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and the United Patriots in parliament.

Bulgarian Socialist Leader Kornelia Ninova Resigns

Kornelia Ninova has resigned as leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), taking full responsibility for the party's election results, Focus News Agency reports. Ninova announced her decision today, opening the meeting of the party's National Council. She said that a congress should be convened to launch a procedure for direct election of party leader.

They earn 6,918 actual votes, reported NOVA TV. 

With 99.48% processed protocols outside the country, 28.75% of all votes are won by Coalition Democratic Bulgaria / Yes, Bulgaria and Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) /. They earn 6,918 actual votes.

Second is PP GERB, which gains 22.16%, or 5 333 votes for Bulgarians who have voted abroad.

GERB Wins the European Parliament Election, 5 Parties Pass the Barrier

GERB wins the European Parliament elections in Bulgaria.

According to the Gallup International  at 19:00, the ruling party receives 30.5% of the vote. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is in second place with 25.4 and the third place is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 12.8.

Polls Predict Close Contest between GERB and Socialists in Bulgaria at European Elections

At the end of the campaigning ahead of Bulgaria's May 26 European Parliament elections, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's centre-right GERB party has 31.1% support of the voters and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) 26.6%, according to the results of a poll by Alpha Research released on May 23, reports BNT.
