President visits Germany

In a reflection of a new era of cooperation, President Katerina Sakellaropoulou began a three-day visit to Germany on Wednesday.

The visit is taking place amid mutual trust after a decade of bilateral friction over the debt crisis, the migration issue and the German government's stance of equal distances with regard to tension between Greece and Turkey.

Turkish-German dialogue celebrated with art

This year, Berlin hosts an exclusive exhibition for the commemoration of the 60th anniversary for celebrating the Germany and Turkey dialogue.

The occasion is the 60th anniversary of the recruitment agreement between Germany and Turkey as a central commemorative date for social diversity and the 10th anniversary of the artist residency program on the Bosporus.

German Bundestag Vice President Claudia Roth said yesterday that she was visiting Kragujevac, which marks the 80th anniversary of the German occupation forces killing thousands of civilians, with a message that something like this would never happen again and that she would emphasize the importance of shared memory.

Social Democrats win German Parliamentary Elections, ahead of Merkel's Conservatives

The German Social Democratic Party (GSDP) won the Bundestag election, ahead of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative bloc, the DPA reported, citing data posted on the federal election commission's website after the vote count.

The SDP receives 25.7 percent of the vote, its best result in years.
