Number of Burgas Flood Victims Climbs To Three

Authorities report of a third victim of the floods in the Burgas region on Friday night.

According to Dnevnik.bg, on Saturday afternoon was found the body of a shepherd near the village of Novo Panicharevo, near Primorsko. 

The other two victims - two women who drowned in their cars near Burgas - were discovered earlier on Saturday. 

Floods In South Eastern Bulgaria, One Victim, One Missing

One woman drowned and a young woman is missing after the torrential rains on the southern parts of Bulgaria's sea coast, said Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. 

He told the bTV national channel that the woman drowned in her car on the road between Burgas and the town of Sozopol. The missing young woman, aged 21, is looked for with a helicopter.

Bulgaria Seizes 16kg Heroin at Border with Turkey

Bulgaria’s Customs Agency said on Friday it has seized nearly 16 kg of heroin at Malko Tarnovo checkpoint, at the border with Turkey.

The drug haul was hidden in a Bulgarian-registered car that travelled to Bulgaria from Turkey on August 13, the agency said in a statement. The car driver was a Bulgarian citizen.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has sent a protest note to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry over discriminatory treatment at a summer camp for children at a Black Sea resort.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, Igor Abesinov, head of a group of animators at the “Mistral” summer camp for children at the resort of Sveti Vlas, banned the wearing of Ukrainian national symbols.

The Bulgarian seaside resorts are one quarter empty, even though it's the peak of season, reports the local Standart daily.

According to hotel owners at the Black Sea coast the season was unusually weak and they are forced to offer discount prices in an effort to attract tourists. 

They expect that August, which is usually the busiest month, will be even worse.
