The Court in Strasbourg Stopped Bulgaria from Returning an Iranian Citizen with a Death Sentence
The European Court of Human Rights stopped the Bulgarian authorities from returning to Iran a man sentenced to death there. This happened after the Bulgarian lawyer Sofia Razboinikova asked the institution to impose temporary measures and the court granted the request.
Bulgaria’s Refugee Camps are Overcrowded
All refugee centers in Bulgaria are over 20% overcrowded. "Pastrogor" is overcrowded, as is the refugee camp in Busmantsi. There, with a capacity of 300 people, are currently accommodated more than 420 people. There has not been such a load for the last 2-3 years.

Council of Europe Anti-Torture Committee Visits Bulgaria to Assess the Situation of Foreign Nationals Detained Under Aliens Legislation
A delegation of the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) carried out an ad hoc visit to Bulgaria from 10 to 17 December 2018.
Sofia Busmantsi Detention Centre Overcrowded
About 20,000 migrants have passed through the Sofia Busmantsi Detention Centre. The situation is beyond extreme. Given a capacity of 940 migrants, there are now 1,631 persons or an occupancy rate of 174% . There are 395 persons registered outside the Detention Centre living at their own expense.
