Another win for Slovenia in ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup

Prague – Luka Božič won Sunday’s ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup race in Prague only a day after his Slovenia teammate Peter Kauzer accomplished the same feat at the venue on the Vltava River.

Božič finished 7th in the semi-final but then went on to sweep the field. France’s Nicolas Gestin came in second and Czech Lukas Rohan finished third.

Ajda Novak takes bronze at Canoe Slalom European Championships

Liptovsky Mikulas – Ajda Novak won Slovenia another medal at the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, on Sunday by securing bronze in the women’s extreme canoe slalom, a new Olympic discipline.

The 28-year-old rounded off a perfect day for Slovenia after Benjamin Savšek won his forth European championship title in the men’s C-1 event.

Savšek finishes second overall in Canoe Slalom World Cup

Pau – Slovenia’s Benjamin Savšek finished second overall in the Canoe Slalom World Cup by taking second place in the last event of the season in France’s Pau on Sunday.

Savšek finished 0.16 seconds behind the winner, Denis Gargaud Chanut of France, who was also crowned the winner of the World Cup.

Canoe-kayak: Savšek third in World Cup event in Markkleeberg

Leipzig – Slovenia’s Benjamin Savšek placed third at the second race of the ICF Canoe-Kayak Slalom World Cup in Germany’s Markkleeberg, being outperformed only by French Denis Gargaud Chanut and German Sideris Tasiadis. The other Slovenian athlete in the finals, Luka Božič, finished 10th.

Canoeist Savšek European champion

Putting in an almost perfect final run, Savšek beat the home favourite Martin Thomas by 79 hundredths of a second. German Sideris Tasiadis trailed more than two seconds behind in third.

This is the second European champion title for the 32-year old Slovenian canoeist after he secured gold at the championship in Markkleeberg in 2015.
