Two Slovenian canoeists win medals in France
Pau – Slovenian canoeists Luka Božič and Benjamin Savšek bagged the second and third places in a white water slalom World Cup event in Pau, France, on Sunday. France’s Denis Gargaud Chanut won the race.

Kayaker Osterman wins silver at European Championships
Munich – Slovenian Anja Osterman won silver in the women’s kayak single 200 metre race at the multisport European Championships in Munich on Saturday.
Osterman was 0.213 seconds slower than the gold medallist Emma Jorgensen of Denmark. Third place went to Marta Walczykiewicz of Poland, who was 0.286 seconds slower than Jorgensen.
Canoeist Savšek second in Krakow
Krakow – Slovenia’s Olympic champion Benjamin Savšek placed second in Sunday’s World Cup canoe slalom race in Poland, finishing only behind French Nicolas Gestin. He failed to win because he touched one of the gates, which earned him a two-second penalty.

Another win for Slovenia in ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup
Prague – Luka Božič won Sunday’s ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup race in Prague only a day after his Slovenia teammate Peter Kauzer accomplished the same feat at the venue on the Vltava River.
Božič finished 7th in the semi-final but then went on to sweep the field. France’s Nicolas Gestin came in second and Czech Lukas Rohan finished third.
Slalom canoeist Peter Kauzer wins World Cup event in Prague
Prague – Slovenian slalom canoeist Peter Kauzer won the first World Cup race this season in whitewater slalom in Prague on Saturday. After barely qualifying for the final, he then rode the rapids with flying colours to win by almost a second over his rivals.
Ajda Novak takes bronze at Canoe Slalom European Championships
Liptovsky Mikulas – Ajda Novak won Slovenia another medal at the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, on Sunday by securing bronze in the women’s extreme canoe slalom, a new Olympic discipline.
The 28-year-old rounded off a perfect day for Slovenia after Benjamin Savšek won his forth European championship title in the men’s C-1 event.
Savšek finishes second overall in Canoe Slalom World Cup
Pau – Slovenia’s Benjamin Savšek finished second overall in the Canoe Slalom World Cup by taking second place in the last event of the season in France’s Pau on Sunday.
Savšek finished 0.16 seconds behind the winner, Denis Gargaud Chanut of France, who was also crowned the winner of the World Cup.
Kayakers Kauzer and Terčelj secure top spots in World Cup
Pau – Slovenian whitewater kayakers Peter Kauzer and Eva Terčelj secured top-three finished in the overall standings as the World Cup season wound down on Saturday.
Kauzer finished the race in runner-up position to swing to second place overall in the World Cup, behind Vito Prindiš, the only man to beat Kauzer today.
Romania's canoeing legend Patzaichin, dead at 71
Romania's multiple Olympic canoeing medallist Ivan Patzaichin has died at the age of 71, the Romanian Olympic Committee (COSR) announced on its Facebook page on Sunday. "He's a legend ... a champion has turned into a star. Ivan Patzaichin has left us. His story is the story of success, common sense and fine character.

Olympics 2020: Romania's Chirila, Mihalachi progress to men's canoe doubles 1,000m semis
Romanians Catalin Chirila and Victor Mihalachi on Monday advanced to the semifinals of the men's canoe doubles 1,000m at the Tokyo Olympic Games, after finishing third in the first quarterfinal. The two Romanians clocked in at 3:51.565, behind Brazil (3:48.611) and Ukraine (3:49.356). The first three crews advanced to the semifinals.
