Barcelona will pedestrianise and install obstacles on some of its busiest tourist streets in response to the August terror attack in the city where a van ploughed into pedestrians, killing 14, The Local writes. 

2 400 companies have left the Spanish region of Catalonia since the independence referendum to date, Bloomberg reports, citing data from the local company register.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said on Nov. 11 he wanted to return to a “democratic and free” Catalonia as he aimed to rally support for a unified Spain on his first visit to the turbulent region since it declared independence.

Sacked Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has lashed out against the European Union (EU) over its response to the Catalan crisis, in which Brussels sided with Madrid in suppressing the independence drive of the region.

Spain's Supreme Court has decided that the chairman of the Catalan Parliament, Carme Forcadelll, will be released on bail of 150,000 euros. The 58-year-old Forcadell, is under investigation about her role in proclaiming the independence of Catalonia.

The Spanish Constitutional Court annuls the declaration of the Catalan parliament of 27 October on unilateral declaration of independence, Reuters reported.

Hours after Catalonia declared independence as a result of a vote in the regional parliament, ending 70 votes in favor and 10 against, the Spanish government removed the Catalan prime minister and dismissed the parliament.

Participants in a general strike in the Spanish Autonomous Region of Catalonia block highways and railways in local villages. This was announced today by the European Press Agency, TASS reported.

Ousted Catalonian leader Carles Puigdemont and four former ministers have been released from custody by a Belgian prosecutor on conditions after they turned themselves in to Belgian police.
Brussels prosecutors said all five were taken into custody to start the process of their possible extradition to Spain.

A Spanish judge has issued a European arrest warrant for ousted Catalan President Carles Puigdemont. The leader's request to testify by videoconference has been rejected.

Puigdemont is currently in Belgium, where he went after Madrid sacked his government. International arrest warrants have also been issued for four of his associates.

Czech President Milos Zeman has spoken decisively against Catalonia's independence, as it would "open Pandora's box and start a chain reaction."

In a television interview, Zeman also recalled his position on Kosovo.
