A 33-year-old local caver who was knocked out unconscious by a falling rock while exploring a newly discovered cave near Cerknica has been rescued after 30 hours of efforts that also involved mining.

Ancient skeleton found in Mexico cave threatened by train
A prehistoric human skeleton has been found in a cave system that was flooded at the end of the last ice age 8,000 years ago, according to a cave-diving archaeologist on Mexico's Caribbean coast.

Five new caves come to light in Turkey’s Black Sea provinces
Five new caves have been discovered in the Küre Mountains National Park, which is located inside the borders of the two Black Sea provinces, Bartın and Kastamonu, local authorities said on Jan. 7.

Historical Yarımburgaz caves abandoned in Istanbul
The Yarımburgaz caves, where the first people settled in Istanbul 400,000 years ago, have been abandoned. The caves, which have been destroyed during TV series and film shootings over many years, are now shelters for substance addicts.
