New Media Freedom Campaign Launched in Serbia
Serbian journalists and activists who protested recently over what they called the worsening situation of the free media will meet in Belgrade on Thursday to coordinate a new campaign in defence of media freedom in the country.
The official Facebook group "For Media Freedom" said all the participants at the meeting will sign a "Freedom of the Media Declaration".

US concerned over Turkey's actions against opposition
The United States is concerned over Turkey's actions against opposition, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert has said.
When asked to comment on the arrest of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul lawmaker Enis Berberoğlu, Nauert said that "they are trying to gather information."
"Freedom of media in region is incomplete"
The freedom of the press the West Balkans is incomplete, the European Parliament's research service said in a report, Beta reported.
The states of the region have faced politicization, problems in the implementation of law and intimidation of journalists, together with growing self-censorship, the report said.

Germany: EUR 50mn fines for "hate speech and fake news"
Germany will impose fines of up to EUR 50 million against "online giants that fail to remove hate speech and fake news reported by users within a week."
Tanjug is reporting this on Wednesday, citing an AFP report, that specified the measure was approved by the German government, that announced it in a statement.

Reporters Without Borders has condemns the prison sentence of 2 years and 3 months handed down by a Serbian court on the freelance journalist Stefan Cvetkovic.
Cvetkovic was found guilty on charges of defamation and unauthorized publication of documents.
Germany Threatens Social Networks With Fines of EUR 50 M for Hate Speech
The German government has threatened companies like Facebook and Twitter with fines of up to EUR 50 M unless they take certain measures against the publication of incinatory materials and slander, reported DPA.
