Technical Olympic agrees to sell Porto Carras to Savvidis
Porto Carras is set to have a new owner, as Technical Olympic has agreed to sell the emblematic tourism resort at Halkidiki in central Macedonia to the Ivan Savvidis group's Belterra Investments for 205 million euros.

Halkidiki gold mine sees output jump by more than 50 percent
Hellas Gold recorded its best quarterly production in a year-and-a-half at Halkidiki in central Macedonia in the January-March 2020 period, according to provisional figures released by parent company Eldorado Gold last week.
The Canadian group's subsidiary in Greece produced 15,181 ounces of gold at the Olympiada gold mines, up 53 percent from about 9,900 a year earlier.
Covid-19 death toll in Greece rises to 81
Greece's coronavirus toll has risen to 81 with the death of a 42-year-old man in the northern port city of Thessaloniki and of an 84-year-old woman in Athens.
According to reports, the 42-year-old man died at Thessaloniki's AHEPA General Hospital on Monday night after being admitted on March 29. He is the virus' first victim from the region of Halkidiki.

Like it or not, the world is always changing and these changes are not always fair - whatever that might mean - or what we predicted or desired. The same can be said for the real estate market. In Halkidiki, northern Greece, for example, the custom back in the day was to endow the daughters with barren coastal fields while keeping the green and fertile land further inland for the sons.

Savvidis set to purchase Porto Carras
The Porto Carras luxury resort in Halkidiki, central Macedonia, is about to change hands, with owner Technical Olympic (controlled by the Stengos family) having signed a memorandum of understanding with Belterra Investments, a member of the group owned by Ivan Savvidis.

Authorities have launched a search operation in Toroneos Gulf, in Greece's northern Halkidiki region, to find a French tourist who was reported missing Tuesday.
Two Coast Guard boats and three private vessels are currently involved in the operation.
