US airmen on Crete: They came, they saw, they cleaned

Fifteen airmen from the 52nd fighter wing at Spandahlem Air Base, Germany, were so amazed by Chania, Crete, that they decided to give something back to the local community. During their downtime from training deployment between the U.S. and Hellenic Air forces at Souda Bay, they volunteered to take part in and organize a beach cleanup.

Baby boy hospitalized on Crete with meningococcal septicaemia

A 16-month-old boy was being treated in a children?s intensive-care unit at the University Hospital of Iraklio on the island of Crete on Saturday, with symptoms of meningococcal septicaemia, a life-threatening disease.

The toddler had been transferred to the Iraklio medical facility from Hania last Friday.

Family of deceased woman on life support says application for 'special status' had been filed with PPC

The family of a 56-year-old quadriplegic woman on life support who died on Wednesday, allegedly after the Public Power Corporation cut electricity supplies to her home due to unpaid bills, had allegedly submitted an application for special status conceded to people on life support.
