Russian women at the cusp of team chess title

Čatež ob Savi – The Russian women’s team is at the cusp of wining the title at the European Team Chess Championship with two rounds of play to go, whereas the open competition remains wide open with Azerbaijan and Ukraine at the top.

In the women’s competition, Russia have a flawless record with 14 points after defeating Azerbaijan.

Slovenians rebound in third round of chess championship

Čatež ob Savi – Slovenian teams notched up wins in the third round in the European Team Chess Championship of competition on Sunday, as the women’s first team scored the first points by defeating England 3.5:0.5 and the men’s team beat Finland 2.5:1.5 for the second win at the tournament.

The women’s first team now rank 24th, whereas the men’s first team are 14th.
