Millions of euros in funding for refugee housing wasted

It is a very serious matter that 2.5 million euros in European Union funding for the development of housing units for unaccompanied young refugees is going to waste due to opposition from local residents to having such a unit in their area, but also major delays by the state in putting the funds to their proper use.

State Agency for Refugees: 7 Unaccompanied Minors Enter Bulgaria per Day

On average, 7 unaccompanied minor refugees are seeking protection in the country every day, shows the data of the State Agency for Refugees for 2016.

Last year, 6572 children entered the country, 42% of whom have arrived in Bulgaria without family or an elderly relative.

EU, UNICEF launch joint program for refugee kids

UNICEF and the European Union have launched a joint project to support more than 6000 refugee and migrant children, including unaccompanied minors, across Greece.

The initiative, which comes amid harsh weather conditions in Greece, aims to help keep refugee and migrant safe and cared for, and give them access to child protection and educational services.
