Bear spotted roaming near Thessaloniki
Local residents at a district east of Thessaloniki were warned about a rogue bear that was spotted roaming the region on Wednesday.
According to the Pilea-Chortiatis municipality's announcement, eye-witnesses saw the animal right below the radar on the path to Kissos, in the Makedonomachon area, near the park of Agia Paraskevi.

First signs of Leandros appear
A woman walks along a snow-covered street in Chortiatis, near Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Friday. The Leandros cold front arrived on Friday, bringing heavy snowfall mainly to the northern regions of the country and a significant drop in temperatures nationwide. The frosty weather will continue Saturday, with the snow expected to continue unabated, even in Attica.

Norwegian alternative rock act Madrugada, a favorite in Greece, comes to Thessaloniki and Athens as part of its Industrial Silence European tour. The group behind great songs such as "Honey Bee," "Black Mambo" and "Quite Emotional" will perform at the PAOK sports arena in the northern port city on April 5 (instead of the smaller Helexpo Center venue as originally planned).

ERT workers shut down broadcast of Golden Dawn press conference
The union representing workers at Greek state broadcaster ERT has called a strike on Tuesday afternoon, running from 3 to 5 p.m. to coincide with a press conference by far-right Golden Dawn at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
Stormy weather leads to power cuts in Thessaloniki
A morning storm in Thessaloniki caused several power cuts across the northern city on Wednesday, including in the areas of Peraia, Panorama and Chortiatis, among others.
Meanwhile, traffic resumed on the old Thessaloniki-Edessa national highway on Wednesday after a ban was imposed by police when debris was detected on the road following heavy rainfall in the area on Tuesday.
