Russian naval cruiser casts anchor in Bosphorus due to 'bad weather'

A Russian naval cruiser had to cast anchor due to strong currents and bad weather in Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait on Jan. 6, according to a Turkish security source.

The Slava-class Marshal Ustinov anchored off the neighborhood of Moda, on Istanbul's Asian side, since conditions did not allow for it to dock, said the source.

More than 165,000 people paraglided over from Mt. Babadağ

More than 165,000 people paraglided over the famous Mt. Babadağ of the Fethiye district in Turkey's southwestern Muğla province in 2019.

Mt. Babadağ in the resort town of Ölüdeniz, also known as Blue Lagoon, welcomes thousands of local and foreign tourists who want to paraglide every year.

Road, bridge tolls reap $322 mln

Turkey earned over 1.8 billion Turkish liras (some $322 million) in tolls from two bridges on the Istanbul Strait as well as roads in the first 11 months of this year, the Turkish Highways Directorate said on Dec. 25.

Some 419 million vehicles went through the toll booths this January-November.

Tens of hectars of woodland burned in four provinces due to garden cleaning

Six houses, tens of hectares of woodland and hazelnut orchards were damaged as a result of fires that erupted in 58 different spots in the Black Sea provinces of Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun and Artvin.

The fires were allegedly caused by dry grasses burned for cleaning of the gardens by residents.
