The island of Saint Anastasia will welcome guests with folk rituals for health and fertility in the first edition of the "Bile Fest", a heraldic festival, announced Burgas Municipality.
More than 50 participants will take part in the event with herbs and healthy foods, curative extracts and ointments, and will show the authentic ways of preparing them.
The former artistic director of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, says he was forced to step down from his post in November last year by Culture Minister Myrsini Zorba.
In an open letter, the prominent pianist, who served in the post for eight years, said Zorba asked him to resign in a phone call.
The French Institute has invited Renaud Guy-Rousseau and Markos Kotsias for a clarinet and piano recital of modern French and Greek music, including works by Charles Camilleri, Maurice Ravel and Francis Poulenc, as well as Manos Hadjidakis and Manolis Kalomiris. The Vienna Symphony Orchestra joins forces with acclaimed violinist and conductor Leonidas Kavakos for a performance at the open-air Herod Atticus Theater on Saturday, June 22. Founded in 1900, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra has collaborated with celebrated maestros including Wilhelm Furtwangler, Herbert von Karajan, Georges Pretre and Vladimir Fedoseyev.
The world famous Spanish tenor José Carreras arrived in Sofia on May 8 for his concert, which will take place on May 11 in Area Aremeec Hall. It will be a farewell of the maestro with the Bulgarian audience, reports BNT.
Carreras and his team will stay in Sofia for four days, with three of them dedicated to rehearsals with the Sofia Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
Tickets for Greece's biggest annual cultural event, the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, go on sale on the organizer's Greek-English website (www.greekfestival.gr) on Monday.
Albanian conductor Kostika Collaku leads the Contradition Ensemble choir in a recital of both a capella and cantata works by Byrd, Ramsey, Allegri, Purcell, Bach, Mozart, Rheinberger, Rachmaninoff, Szymanowski, Faure, Poulenc, Schnittke and Part in Thessaloniki on Thursday, April 18. The performance will take place at the 15th century Alaca Imaret Mosque, starting at 9 p.m.
