European Union called for tight controls on coronavirus vaccine exports after top officials  accused U.K.-based AstraZeneca of cutting supplies intended for EU countries in order to sell doses to other nations at higher prices.

Reports in German media outlets that the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is less effective in older people appear to be unfounded, the German government said Tuesday.

"I congratulate the citizens of Serbia on that, they deserve it. We did it in the best way," says Vucic. He points out that he is satisfied with the response of the citizens, as well as the organization, and especially with the comments that "the Germans did not do this either."

Turkey will produce Russia's Sputnik V vaccine following the completion of legal procedures and technology transfer, the head of Turkish pharmaceutical company VisCoran İlaç Sanayii AŞ told Anadolu Agency on Jan. 25. 

Noting that the deal was signed on Aug. 16 last year, VisCoran's CEO, Özturk Oran, said the company did not think to announce it until they get the license.

Greek health authorities have lost less than 500 doses from people who have not showed up for their jab appointment, a Health Ministry official said at Monday's briefing on the government's vaccination program.

The Health Ministry explained on Monday that a 95% effectiveness of a vaccine against the new coronavirus means that, compared to an unvaccinated person, an immunized person has a 20 times lower risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19.

"Between 10.000 and 20.000 of this vaccine a week are expected to arrive in the next two weeks," the media reported.
Unofficially, another 41.000 doses of Pfizer vaccine are expected by February 15.

Given the snail's pace at which the health authorities in Bulgaria have been vaccinating against coronavirus recently, the European target of vaccinating 70% of the total adult population will be achieved in August 2040. The European Commission recommends that it should be done by the end of summer 2021.

This morning, another shipment of Pfizer vaccines,14,040 doses - arrived in Sofia Airport. They will make up for the amount that didn't arrive last week. Another 2,300 doses of the vaccine are expected to come from the same company, again as a compensation for the delayed deliveries.

A plane carrying the second batch of a COVID-19 vaccine ordered from China's Sinovac Biotech Ltd. arrived early on Jan. 25 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 plane, which departed from Beijing, landed at Istanbul Airport at 6.15 a.m. local time (0315 GMT).
