A Ukrainian woman was arrested at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport after police found over two kilos of cocaine (4.4 pounds) in her suitcase, police sources said on Nov. 7.

Some 15 kilograms of cocaine was seized in Istanbul's Atatürk Airport last week, security sources said on Oct. 31.

A 37-year-old foreign national was arrested this week at Athens International Airport for trying to smuggle 960 grams of cocaine into Greece in 87 small sachets he had swallowed.

Police said the man flew in to Athens from Sao Paolo in Brazil via Zurich on Wednesday.

He was expected to appear before an investigative magistrate. 

SPAIN'S National Police force has seized a tugboat found to be transporting 1,400 kilos of cocaine while sailing in waters near the Canary Islands, reports EuroweeklyNews. 

The vessel stowing the illegal contraband is named 'The Breath' and reportedly departed from Turkey and carried a Moldovan flag.

A 25-year-old woman flying in from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil via Rome was arrested on Tuesday at Athens International Airport for attempting to smuggle more than 6 kilos of cocaine hidden in a parachute in her luggage.

Police said they were investigating whether the woman, a foreign national, was part of a wider network smuggling drugs into Greece from Latin America.

Police on Saturday were questioning two foreign nationals believed to have tried to smuggle more than 2 kilograms of cocaine into the country from South America.

Officers initially intercepted a 53-year-old woman at Athens International Airport on Friday and then apprehended her suspected connection, a 51-year-old man in the neighborhood of Patissia.

Some 800 kilograms of cocaine that was apprehended on Aug. 8 in the Körfez district of the western province of Kocaeli was the largest amount seized in a single anti-drug operation in Turkey, security sources said. Click through for the story in photos...

Three suspects have been charged on the Ionian island of Corfu with setting up a criminal gang to transport and distribute illegal drugs, authorities said on Thursday.

The charges were brought in the wake of an extensive police operation across the island that led to the dismantling of a cocaine trafficking network.

Security forces on Aug. 8 seized a total of 800 kilograms of cocaine in the western province of Kocaeli, one of the largest anti-drug operations in recent years.

Sofia police officers have discovered a large amount of drugs in a dwelling in Druzhba, the press center of the Ministry of Interior reports.
