The residents of a Roma neighborhood in the Bulgarian village of Garmen are taking to the streets on Friday over the municipality's plans to go on bulldozing their homes.
Local authorities consider their protest to be illegal, with mayor Mina Kapitanova banning rallies in the central area of Garmen on Friday.
The demolition of the illegal residential buildings in Garmen has now been completed, as reported by Focus information agency.
A total of four buildings have been removed from the site out of all 124. They were all demolished using a bulldozer and the Roma people in the neighborhood tore down another house by themselves.
After they had been given an hour to leave their illegal residential buildings, Roma people in Garmen started demolishing their houses by themselves.
The first house was smashed at around 11:30, as reported by BGNES.
People are currently removing their possessions from some of the other buildings in the illegal Roma neighborhood.
