Housing costs take a huge bite out of Greek incomes

Greek families pay nearly four times more than their fellow Europeans in housing costs as a percentage of their income, according to the latest survey by Housing Europe, the European Federation for Public, Cooperative and Social Housing.

Households in Greece spend 41 percent of their disposable incomes on housing costs, while the European average comes to just 11.3 percent.

Bulgaria Ranks Eighth in Europe in Income from Rented Properties

Bulgaria is ranked eighth in Europe in income from rented property, the online edition reports, referring to WorldFirst payment group calculations.

The average income in our country reaches 5.77%.

Leader in Europe is Ireland with an income of 7.08%. Malta is second with 6.64% and Portugal with 6.43% is third.

St. Louis protest turns violent after peaceful rallies against police acquittal

Clashes between demonstrators and riot-clad police marred the end of what had been a largely peaceful second day of protest rallies in St. Louis following the acquittal of a white police officer in the fatal shooting of a black man.

Several hundred people gathered near Washington University after dark as the main rallies and marches wound down on Sept. 16 evening.

Rental rates are on the rise across the country

The rising trend in home rental rates across Greece has now become clear, though it is seen mainly in Athens and Thessaloniki where demand appears increased.

According to the latest national survey by the RE/MAX Hellas network of estate agencies, rental rates are showing an average growth of 2.1 percent this year from 2016.
