‘Don Giovanni’ at AKM
Within the scope of the Beyoğlu Cultural Road Festival, the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' opera at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Theater Stage. One of the masterpieces of opera literature, the performance will be on stage on June 8 at 8 pm.

Močnik wins composers’ guild award
Ljubljana – Composer Damijan Močnik is the winner of the 2022 Kozina Award, the top honour for this art form, which is given out by the Slovenian Composers’ Association. Močnik is being honoured for his well rounded sacral oeuvre, says Wednesday’s press release by the association, which will present the award to the composer on 2 June.

Acclaimed contemporary composer Janez Matičič dies
Ljubljana – Composer and pianist Janez Matičič, one of Slovenia’s most notable contemporary composers, has died at the age of 95. His oeuvre was centred around piano music, which he himself performed as well. He received numerous awards for his work, including the Prešeren Prize for lifetime achievement.

Bulgarian among the Grammy Winners
Bulgarian composer Penka Kouneva became one of the winners of the most prestigious Grammy Music Award with her participation in the album "Women Warriors: Voices of Change". The album won in the "Classic Collection" category. Kouneva has worked in Hollywood as a composer and orchestrator for more than 20 years.

Three days of Mourning in Greece in Memory of Composer Mikis Theodorakis
Greece has declared three days of mourning in memory of composer Mikis Theodorakis, who died at the age of 96.
"The voice of the people fell silent," Greek newspapers wrote on the front page on the occasion of the death of the legendary composer of the film "Zorba the Greek".
