Snow storms paralyze life across Turkey

Heavy snowfall ahead of New Year's has paralyzed life across Turkey, as some flights and ferries were canceled, schools were closed and snow-covered roads inhibited access to thousands of villages in the eastern parts of the country. 

Turkish Airlines and low-cost Turkish carrier Pegasus canceled 221 flights scheduled for Dec. 31, 2015, and Jan. 1, 2016, due to the snow storm.

Heavy snowfall ahead of New Year's has paralyzed life in Istanbul as some flights and ferries were canceled, metrobuses were delayed and side roads remained inaccessible despite continued traffic on the city's main roads. 

Turkish Airlines and low-cost Turkish carrier Pegasus canceled 221 flights scheduled for Dec. 31, 2015, and Jan. 1, 2016, due to the snow storm. 

Erhan Yaz?c?o?lu resigns from his post

City Theaters General Art Director Erhan Yaz?c?o?lu has announced that he has resigned from his post. 
Speaking at the "Son(suz) Öykü" gala at the Haldun Taner stage in Istanbul's Kad?köy on Dec. 28, Yaz?co?lu said, "We viewed a very nice play but this is the last speech of my 48-year professional life." 

He said he would say farewell to City Theaters, and continued: 

Erdo?an prevents suicide attempt over Istanbul's Bosphorus bridge

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has dissuaded a man's suicide attempt over Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge on Dec. 25.

Erdo?an was incidentally passing over the bridge when the man was on the edge of a suicide attempt.

Erdo?an's bodyguards approached the man while the president communicated with him through his car door window. 

'Ertu?rul 1890' premieres at gala

The Turkish-Japanese joint production "Ertu?rul 1890" was released on Dec. 25 in Turkish movie theaters following a gala on Dec. 24 at Istanbul's Zorlu PSM. 

The head of production for the film, Ömer Faruk Sorak, said it was the biggest project among their international films.
