Bulgaria: Over 5,000 Breaches of Construction Safety Regulations Found in December Alone

After an inspection ordered by the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office 5092 breaches of construction safety regulations were found in the country only in December. The inspection was provoked by an incident at a construction site in near the Dimitar Petkov market  in Sofia, where one worker died and several others were injured.

Roman Furnace Almost 1,500 Years Old Unearthed in Bulgaria

 

A Roman furnace almost 1,500 years old was discovered during excavation works at a construction site in the town of  Silistra. According to archaeologists, this is the largest furnace for construction ceramics from the Roman era, discovered in Bulgaria, correspondent of BGNES for the region reports.

1,800 years on, water channels in Turkey’s southeast remain mystery

The water channels of Zerzevan Castle, a site on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Temporary list, built so intricately 1,800 years ago in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır's Çınar district remains a mystery to this day.

The Zerzevan Castle, located 13 kilometers from central Çınar in the Demirölçek neighborhood, was used as a military settlement in the Roman era.

Historical Istanbul mosque robbed by thieves

Plates in the domes of the 432-year historical Kılıç Ali Pasha Mosque in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, designed by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, have been stolen by thieves.
Taking advantage of the lockdown in the late hours of April 27, the suspects removed the plates on the domes and fled from the scene by loading the plates onto a car they brought with them.

Quiet neighborhoods and oppressive idleness

Our suburban neighborhood is quieter than usual. I occasionally hear a ball bouncing as lone youths shoot baskets, and a number of people visited the local beach on Saturday afternoon, but most children are staying indoors, most neighbors seem invisible, and even the dogs are making less noise. I can hear the birds, both from my desk and when walking in olive groves full of wildflowers.
