European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu announced on Thursday that she will run as a candidate of the Pro Romania party in the elections to European Parliament, which are to be held on 26 May.

European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu welcomed on Tuesday the fact that the cohesion policy represents a priority for the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, adding that this thing "proves the clear impact that this policy of solidarity had over the past years in Romania, contributing essentially to improving the Romanians' lives."

'Guccifer' to be extradited to US after serving of sentence in Romania

The Court of Appeals (CA) Alba Iulia on Monday admitted the demand of extradition to the United States of America of the hacker Marcel Lehel Lazar, alias 'Guccifer' or 'Little Smoke' his extradition being postponed until he is released on parole or after the serving of the 7-year sentence he has in Romania, reads the website of the said CA.

Lesvos to get 1.3 mln in EU aid for quake damage

The eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, which was struck by a deadly earthquake last summer, is set to receive 1.3 million euros from the European Union's Solidarity Fund, according to a proposal by the EU's Regional Policy Commission.

The sum is part of a total 104 million euros that the Commission wants to disburse to four EU member-states that were hit by natural disasters in 2017.

Joksimovic receives Cretu

BELGRADE - Serbian European Integration Minister Jadranka Joksimovic met with European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu Friday.

They discussed the Serbia-EU relations, the EU accession process, the situation in the region and other significant subjects, a statement said.
