Storm shuts down schools, roads; at least one dead

Schools in Attica will remain closed Monday until 10 a.m. due to problems raised by a storm, authorities say.

Heavy rain and debris have shut down both the Athens-Corinth highway, near Elefsina, and the old road connecting the two cities. Authorities say the highway to Athens is expected to open between 9-10 am, while the section to Corinth between 12-1 pm.

Discounts, no tolls for polls

Transport authorities have announced that charges will be waived for motorists at key tollgates to allow voters to reach their constituencies for the snap general election on Sunday while shipping firms, intercity rail services and airlines will be offering discounts.

Police bus overturns on Corinth-Tripoli highway

Seven police officers and six prisoners were injured on Wednesday when an armored bus overturned on the Corinth-Tripoli highway in southern Greece.
All 13 were taken to hospital, where they received treatment for light injuries.
The police bus was transferring prisoners from Corinth to a jail in Tripoli. It was not clear what caused the accident. 

Corinth Canal closed for large vessels after landslide

The Isthmus of Corinth, which connects the Peloponnese to mainland Greece, was closed for large vessels on Thursday afternoon after the rocks on one side of the canal gave way, prompting a landslide. The cause of the landslide remained unclear, though state engineers were expected to be dispatched to the area for inspections.
