Turkey replaces finance minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan replaced the country's finance minister on Dec. 2.

According to a presidential decree issued near midnight, Erdoğan accepted the resignation of Lütfi Elvan and appointed his deputy Nureddin Nebati as the new finance minister.

Elvan had been in the role since November 2020.

President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has voiced his ultimate support to Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, who has come under fire by a mafia leader in a series of videos, stressing that the real target is Turkey's success in fighting terrorism and bringing down criminal networks.

Transport minister removed from post

Turkey's Transport and Infrastructure Minister has been removed from his post by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to a decree published on the Official Gazette early on March 28. 

Cahit Turhan has been replaced by his deputy, Adil Karaismailoğlu, the decree said.

It did not provide a reason for the change or any further details.
