Piraeus port blockade draws China complaint
With the blockade of the cargo terminal run by China's Cosco at Piraeus by disgruntled port workers causing serious disruptions in the transfer of cargo shipments and drawing the ire of port officials, the Chinese Embassy in Athens filed a complaint on Friday with the Greek government, urging it to protect China's significant investments in Greece.

The Chinese Embassy in Athens has filed a complaint with the Greek government concerning Thursday's blockade of the cargo terminal run by China's Cosco at Piraeus by disgruntled port workers.
Piraeus soars in cargo tonnage rankings under Cosco
Before China's Cosco Shipping arrived in Piraeus, the "Pearl of the Mediterranean" was listed 93rd in the the world's busiest seaports by cargo tonnage.
It has since climbed to 38th.
Court ruling paves way for liquidation of Skaramangas shipyards
An Athens court has approved an appeal by the Greek state and Piraeus Bank to prepare the Skaramangas shipyards for liquidation.
As long as there are no objections from the key shareholder Privinvest, which is far from certain, the government will be able to start auctioning the shipyard's assets via an international competition.
Piraeus port enters new era with increasing handling capacity
Piraeus port, the largest harbor in Greece, entered a new era of handling 20,000 plus twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) vessels on Monday when China's Cosco Shipping Taurus giga container vessel, one of the biggest worldwide, docked there.
The 400 m Taurus is the largest vessel to berth at Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT), opening a new chapter in the history of the port.
Greece approves port sale in Thessaloniki
Lawmakers have approved the sale of a 67 percent stake of the Thessaloniki Port Authority in Greece's second largest city, in a deal worth 232 million euros ($285 million).
Parliament ratified the concession agreement through 2051 which was signed in December with the consortium South Europe Gateway Thessaloniki.

OLP cries foul at DALP intervention
Cosco-controlled Piraeus Port Authority SA (OLP) has accused the state's Public Authority of Piraeus Port (DALP) of a "systematic effort to dispute the privatization of OLP and its operation in the context of the law on private enterprises," effectively speaking of state intervention.

Cosco-managed Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) on Monday announced major overhaul plans for the country's main port, including the construction of four hotels in the area, a new cruise terminal and shopping centers totaling 40,000 square meters that would be open to the wider public as well as cruise passengers.
