Businessman Costas Bakouris, 81, dies
Costas Bakouris, a prominent businessman who served twice as the director of the Greek chapter of Transparency International, died Tuesday at the age of 81 after suffering a stroke.
Bakouris remained on the managing board of Greek manufacturing company Viohalco until his death.

A leader ahead of his time
Constantinos Mitsotakis, prime minister of Greece from April 1990 to October 1993, tied Greece to Europe by accepting the Maastricht Treaty in its entirety. It was he who took the decision to attach Greece to the common European currency (and abandon the drachma).

Education minister in damage control after alternate's remarks
Greek Education Minister Costas Gavroglou on Tuesday sought to distance the ministry from comments made by his alternate, Costas Zouraris, who called for the children of refugees to attend private schools paid for by the Greek state and European Union funds.
Gavroglou, who was reportedly annoyed at his alternate, said Zouraris's remarks did not reflect the ministry's policies.

Comedy actor Kostas Tsakonas dies, aged 72 (pics + vids)
Greek actor Kostas Tsakonas died in a central hospital in Athens at the age of 72 years after a battle with cancer. Sources close to him say that he had numerous health problems since a stroke five years ago. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Argyroupolis cemetary in South Athens.
