Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

The Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, GRETA, an independent monitoring group, said in a report for the Council of Europe published on Tuesday that Bosnia and Herzegovina's has improved legislation to combat human trafficking but it needs to be implemented more effectively to ensure protection and justice for victims.

The Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) with the Council of Europe on Thursday published a report in which it urges Bulgaria to improve access to justice and compensation for victims of human trafficking.

The Parliament has adopted amendments to the Combating Trafficking in Human Beings Act on first reading, Focus News Agency reported. 

The age of human trafficking victims has dropped down to 14-15. Victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation are mostly women aged 18 to 35, people trafficked for labour exploitation are of various ages, many of them over 55.

Bulgaria has been a main source of people forcefully taken to Western Europe between 2011 and 2014, a report unveiled by the Council of Europe says, cited by Dnevnik.bg.
