Dejan, then 20, had been nearing the end of his military service in Kosovo, then a southern province of Serbia, when NATO launched air strikes to halt a brutal Serbian counter-insurgency war. At the time, Serbia and Montenegro were all that was left of Yugoslavia, still joined together after the other four republics - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia - had seceded.

Greek tourism is at a crucial crossroads. It continues to be the main source of national revenue, but its continued growth relies on two assets that cannot be quantified - the country's natural and cultural capital. 

Greeks abroad to cast their vote on Saturday, June 24

A total of 25,610 Greeks abroad have registered to vote from their place of residence on Saturday, one day ahead of the ballot in Greece on Sunday, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

A total of 22,855 Greeks had registered to vote in the May 21 national elections, of whom 18,203 voted (79.5% rate of participation).

The last Greek summer

The signs are there, everywhere. Athens is full of foreign tourists. You see them packed into the narrow city-center streets, but also unexpectedly wandering around the suburbs, smiling from ear to ear, slaloming between the cars parked on the sidewalks. Some of Greece's most popular destinations are already packed - with foreigners. Others are getting there.
