Man attacked by fellow Britons in Zakynthos bar dies

A 35-year-old British man who was assaulted by two fellow Britons on the Greek holiday island of Zakynthos last week has died, local media reported on Thursday.

The unnamed man died at the capital's Attikon hospital, where he had to be airlifted after sustaining serious head injuriesy during a fight at a bar in the seaside party resort of Laganas.

Four die in road accidents on Lesvos, near Mesolongi

Four people were killed in two road accidents on Sunday morning.
Three people - two men and a 16-year-old girl - were killed in the area of Panagiouda on the Aegean island of Lesvos when two motorcycles collided.
Meanwhile in Neohori, near Mesolongi, western Greece, an army conscript was killed in a road accident.

Thomas Cook expands in Greece

Leading British tour operator Thomas Cook announced this week that it has acquired two new properties in Greece, which will take its total number of hotel units in this country to four.
The operator has bought out Casa Cook Kos, a 100-room unit that it has been operating on the Dodecanese island and which has been the most profitable unit bearing the company's name.

4.1-magnitude quake hits Kyllini

A 4.1-magnitude earthquake shook the port town of Kyllini in western Greece on Wednesday.

According to the Athens' Geodynamic Institute, the tremor, whose epicenter was 10 kilometers east of Kyllini, was recorded at a depth of 8 kilometers.

No injuries or damages were reported.

Coast guard rescues 63 migrants off Chios and Samos

Sixty-three migrants were rescued in two separate operations in the eastern Aegean on Tuesday, the Greek coast guard said in an announcement.

The first operation concerned a motorized rubber dinghy that was sailing off the northeast coast of Samos in the early hours of Tuesday, carrying 34 people on board.
