The Minister of Justice may make a proposal to the Supreme Judicial Council for the early release of the Prosecutor General, as well as to the chairmen of the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Supreme Administrative Court. This was ruled by the Constitutional Court on Tuesday. The decision was taken unanimously - with 10 votes in favor.

The murderer of Sarai Sierra, a U.S. traveler who was found dead near Istanbul's old city walls in 2013, has once again been sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison during his retrial.

Judge Pavlina Panova is the new President of the Constitutional Court.

She was elected at a court hearing today. All 11 judges were present.

The Democratic Bulgaria Coalition has announced that it will support the civil candidacy of Lozan Panov for president and Maria Kasimova-Moase for vice president. The coalition points out that Panov largely covers the political views of the coalition.

Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev will most likely not appear before the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, where he was invited to participate today in a "discussion related to the activities of the prosecution and investigation on the rule of law in relation to police violence against protesting citizens ".

Serbia's Supreme Court of Cassation on Tuesday revoked the final verdict against Darko Saric and other convicts for cocaine smuggling because of procedural oversight, and returned the case to the Court of Appeals. The court did not question the evidence on the basis of which Saric was convicted.

"When there is no effective solution to one issue, people tend to seek the prosecutor's office, but it also fuels over-expectations. It's function to control rule of law is only on certain issues and its task is to investigate crimes, not to be a second instance of administration control."  This was stated by caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov.

With 189 votes in favor, the deputies unanimously obliged the Prosecutor General to appear before the Committee on Legal Affairs every three months.This happened after the MPs adopted texts in the Rules of Procedure for the organization and activity of the National Assembly, BNT reported.

The Prosecutor General Gabriela Scutea had a meeting on Wednesday with the chargé d'affaires with the United States' embassy in Bucharest, David Muniz, the topics discussed being combating corruption and organized crime, measures regarding environment criminality, the rule of law.

Romania's High Court of Cassation and Justice ruled on Tuesday that pretending to be someone else on Facebook is an offence punishable under the country's criminal law.
