COVID-19 pandemic in Europe

Ljubljana – A total of 656 coronavirus test samples returned positive in Slovenia on Sunday for the lowest daily figure since mid-December after another two-month low in coronavirus cases was confirmed the day before, show fresh official data.

Swiss voters were having their say in a referendum on Nov. 28 on legislation which imposed the use of a special COVID-19 certificate that lets only people who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested negative attend public events and gatherings.

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 244 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, the highest Saturday figure since mid-May and an increase of 150% on the previous week. More than 17% of all cases came back positive, show the latest figures by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

COVID-19 infections in adults of all ages fell by 80% five weeks after a first dose of Pfizer, Moderna  or AstraZeneca  vaccine, according to Italian research published on Saturday.

Bulgaria's national vaccination task force decided on April 22 that "green corridors" for vaccinations against Covid-19 for all comers will be opened from April 30 to May 9, the Health Ministry said in a media statement.

Vaccines of the mRNA type will be on offer. Such vaccines include the BioNTech-Pfizer and Moderna jabs.

Italy has entered a strict three-day lockdown to try to prevent a surge in Covid-19 cases over Easter.

All regions are now in the "red zone" - the highest tier of restrictions - as the country battles a third wave, with about 20,000 new cases a day.

Non-essential movement is banned, but people are allowed to share an Easter meal at home with two other adults.
