The right priorities

The personnel employed by Greece's public health sector have shouldered most of the burden since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country last March, often mobilizing bottomless wells of self-denial. 

They are, however, civil servants. This means that they need to align with the priorities of the state and with the public interest. 

Without noise

It has been almost a year since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Everyone's resilience - both that of citizens and the state - is being tested, as developments with the virus are not encouraging. 

That is why it is necessary for those who communicate with the public - either as competent experts or as unqualified opposition - to avoid exaggerations.

Coronavirus/2,737 new cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hrs, death toll hits 18,196

As many as 2,737 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the past 24 hours, following more than 31,000 tests at the national level, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reports on Friday. These are cases that have not previously had a positive test, the GCS states.

Coronavirus Global March – Cases Surpass 100 Million

Global coronavirus cases surpassed 100 million on Wednesday, according to a Reuters tally, as countries around the world struggle with new virus variants and vaccine shortfalls. 

Almost 1.3% of the world's population has now been infected with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and more than 2.1 million people have died.
