COVID-19 vaccination in the United States

France has fully vaccinated three-quarters of its population against coronavirus, according to official data released today, DPA reported.

Despite the large number of people who have gone through the full vaccination cycle, there is still concern for the elderly and vulnerable populations, who are most likely to have complications if they become infected with the coronavirus.

Turkey's health minister announced on Nov. 3 that the country will start administering booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to people who received their second doses at least six months ago.

In a written statement following a meeting of the country's medical advisory council, Fahrettin Koca said the booster shots would be administered as of Thursday.

The US health authorities have approved the use of the COVID-19 vaccine by BioNTech / Pfizer for children between 5 and 11 years of age. The first doses may be given on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

The United States can now start giving children aged 5-11 the Pfizer-BioNtech COVID vaccine, U.S. health authorities said on Nov. 2 in a move hailed by President Joe Biden as a "turning point" in the fight against the pandemic.

Turkey's health minister has urged the public to volunteer in studies for the development of the country's own coronavirus vaccine, Turkovac.

In the phase 3 trials, authorities are also giving the local jab candidate to volunteers as the booster shot.

The completed vaccination course, with any of the EU-approved vaccines, provides a high level of protection against the severe course of the disease and death caused by SARS-CoV-2, including infection with the Delta variant of the virus. This was announced by the Bulgarian Ministry of Health.

Some 13 million people in Turkey have not yet got a single dose of a COVID-19 vaccine even though they are eligible for the jab, with a little more than 58 percent of the country's whole population having been given at least two doses of the vaccine.

The 5,440 COVID-19 cases confirmed in the last 24 hours by the National Organisation of Public Health have caused heightened concern in the government because the projection of experts is that the number of cases through much of November will be over 5,000 daily, with the accompanying burden on the National Health System.

More than 7 million Britons already have a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Statistics show that in the last seven days alone, more than 2 million have received a booster vaccine. Health Minister Sajid Javid called on people who received an invitation for a third vaccine to take advantage of it as soon as possible to boost their immune system for the winter.

The United States on Oct. 29 authorized the Pfizer Covid vaccine for children aged five-to-11, paving the way for 28 million young Americans to soon get immunized.
